UNDERSTANDING AFFILIATE MARKETING
My
explanations will be mainly for the newer affiliate
marketer and will focus on some promotional techniques,
free and otherwise, to sell affiliate products. For you
guys who already know about affiliate marketing, bare
with me. In case you're completely new to this,
affiliate marketing is selling someone else's products
for which you get a commission on every sale you make.
This is one of the easies way to
start a business online. It is most often done in
percentages of the sale amount which can vary all the
way up to 90% per sale.
The techniques to
sell in affiliate marketing are very similar to running
your business as a whole, with some noteworthy
differences that you should know. The first major
difference is the price difference of starting up
business compared to running a website yourself. It
helps to have your own website to promote multiple
products at once, but that can be even side stepped. An
affiliate marketer has no inventory at all, no taking
order, no shipping and etc. You just promote and sell
for other people.
The business
you're selling for has to handle all the other process such as taking order,
shipping, payment and etc. You just
promote and sell the product without worry of taking any orders. Overall, it's
much cheaper and the headaches are less when you're job just generating the lead for
the sale and not dealing with all the paperwork and cost of running the entire
operation. If you get good enough and it's entirely possible to do it full time
plus you could venture into many other possibilities over internet.
Note: Some examples of companies that offer affiliate
programs are Clickbank, Commission Junction, and Amazon. You can
sign up to be an affiliate at any one of those sites to get
started. Clickbank, Commission Junction, Amazon and etc. are
companies that have lots of variety of products that you could
choose and promote from different individual or companies. But
you could also be affiliate for companies that only sell their
own particular product such as DELL, SONY, DISCOVERY CARD and
etc.

Then, affiliate marketing
could be your business model. Affiliate is one of the business model that you
could do even without a website. But I would highly recommend you to own a website since with website
of your own, you could promote many products at once. Plus, there are other potential income such as from Google Adsense,
renting advertisement space and etc.
Remember that even thought becoming an affiliate marketer may not require you to
have a website or maintain a website heavily, you need to promote the affiliate
links extensively.
