Creating index.htm & other
supporting files.
Once you open
your FrontPage software, you will see some folders that already
created for you under your "Web Site". Ignore all of them
at the beginning and
create your own folder with your own name. Open the folder, and
create a blank file. Name the file index.htm and now you already
created your first file. This will be the first page that anyone
will see when they type in your domain name say
www.mywebsite.com . As
for the rest of the pages you could create them and give them
name as you like but must end with .htm type of file.
Now you
should :

Start To Write Your Website Content
-
Start
to write your content as you wish on your index.htm
which will be your main page.
-
Write the
other supporting pages for your subtopics which you could save with any
file names but must end with .htm type of file. You could
write as you would do using your Microsoft Word using
all the standard tools such as background colors,
artwork, table, chart and etc.
-
Writing The Content - content is
the most important part of any website. This is the part that you want the
reader to concentrate and buy what ever idea that you are trying to communicate
using your words and pictures. If you do not have any idea on how to write your
website contents, you could always search the web for information. Do a search
in the search engine and look for other sites that have information regarding
your topic. Find what they wrote, look what they don't have and find the
information via the web, books, forums and etc. Build the website skeleton and
key content details on paper using the information you got from multiple
sources. There is no need to get all the content at one time since you could
start writing and publishing your site with minimum content. I believe a 10
pages site for a start will be sufficient. Add your content
gradually and always post a statement on your site telling what
is new and what else will be posted in future. This will make
visitors to return to your site in future since you already told
them via your posted statement there will be new thing coming to
your site in future.
-
It is also a good idea if you have some idea of
Search Engine Optimization SEO
knowledge before you start writing your site. Even thought SEO could be done
after writing a website, but it is highly recommended you know what is SEO
before you start since it will give you some knowledge on how to tune your
website from the beginning to communicate properly to search engine and make it
easy for the search engine such as Google, Yahoo, MSN and etc. to index your site once it is launched
to worldwide web.
Linking The Pages With Hyperlink
-
When
you want to link some section or word of the index.htm
file or any other .htm files to other page that you
created or other website, mark them by highlighting
them.
-
Then
"right click" and you should see HYPERLINK word. Click
on it and you would see a window "insert
hyperlink".
-
Choose
the file that you want to link and select it, or write
the URL name that you want to link. If you want the link
to open a new window whenever someone clicks on the
link, then you click on "Target Frame" and choose "New
Window". Click "OK" and "OK" again.
-
Now
when finally you launch your website and someone clicks
on word that you linked earlier, the link will bring
them to the intended site.

Creating "Main Menu or Navigation Table"
-
Edit
your website especially index.htm file to have a
Navigation Table or Main Menu. This is actually a
section within your index file that links to all the
other main pages that possibly explaining the subtopic
of your website content.
-
Remember, many
search engine will use this Main Menu to navigate and possibly
index all your other pages. There for you need to create the
navigation table.
-
In some
website, you will see almost all the pages will have the Main
Menu, this is something good too if you decide to create your
website in this manner.
Launching Your Website In Your Computer
-
Launching your website within your computer is simple,
just click File and scroll down to " Preview In Browser
".
-
Now,
with these simple steps you actually have a workable
website. It not that complicated, right ?
IMPORTANT: I STRONGLY suggest that you explore
FrontPage. Tryout slowly the available functions within
FrontPage and learn. I will not be able to explain every
single steps and functions, but at least I could get you
started.

Using Template On Your Website
If you see
this website, I am actually using a template. A template is
actually a skeleton which have different tables and sections.
You could use the template on each page and fill up the table
with your contents. It is actually much more nicer then using a
plain/color background.
To use a
template is simple, all you have to do is find a html template
which is widely available in the internet and copy the entire
source code provided. Then create a blank page using your
FrontPage. Click at " Code " (bottom left), and it will show your blank page
source code. Delete the entire code and immediately paste the
template code. Save the file and you have a page with template
to use.
Note: If the
template you choose has a picture, save the picture file in the
same folder as the page with template file.
Use the page
with the template as you would normally use in creating your
site. Your may download free template from

or

Placing Your Affiliate Link And Adsense HTML Codes
Inserting Your Affiliate Link
Inserting Google Adsense Codes
-
If you would
like to place HTML codes provided by Google Adsense or any other
scheme similar to Google, you need to copy the codes provided by
Google and paste them in your page within your codes.
-
The technique is simple,
assume you would like to insert HTML codes from Google into a
selected fresh line of a page. All you have to do is look
for the sign <p> just below FrontPage navigation toolbar.
-
Click on this sign
<p> and you will see a scroll down menu that will
appear. Choose "Insert HTML", and a window will appear. Delete
the < > sign from the window and paste the Google Adsense codes. Its
that simple.
-
If you would
like to insert the adsense at the side of certain paragraph, just
create a table with two columns and one row. Write one column
with the content that you want.
-
Insert another
column with the adsense codes. The method will be same as above,
but first click the adsense column and align the column to
CENTER. Now click on this sign <p> or <td> and you will see a scroll down menu that will
appear.
-
Choose "Insert HTML", and a window will appear. Delete
the < > sign from the window and paste the Google
Adsense codes.
-
Readjust
the table size accordingly to the content amount and Google
adsense advertisement size.
